The New Ruger Max-9 is Here

The New Ruger Max-9 is Here

We’re always excited to see a new spin on a great gun. The Ruger Max-9 is a solid, affordable 9mm pistol perfect for new and experienced shooters alike. Today, we’re going to take a look at both the old and new Ruger Max-9s and see what’s changed and what classic features remain.

At a Glance

Looking at the Max-9s next to each other, there aren’t a lot of big differences. They both have a black finish, 3.21” barrel, and very similar builds.

There are a few changes to note. First, the new Max-9 has a black nitride finish, an upgrade over the old Max-9s black oxide finish. Second, the new Max-9 has more aggressive slide serrations. This makes it easier to grip and pull back.

Both of these guns also have manual safeties for peace of mind.

Sights

One of the bigger differences between the old model and the new model is the sights. The old Ruger Max 9 had tritium night sights. Now, the Ruger Max 9 comes with white dot sights. Both are fully optics ready. Add a red dot or leave as is - this is a great gun either way.

Magazines

The new Ruger Max 9 comes with one magazine. The old Ruger Max 9 came with two.

Price

While the changes between these two models are small, the price difference is big. The new Max 9 is now $70 cheaper. At just $249, it is an even better option for budget-conscious customers.
